In 1983, when I lived in NY, Michael Somoroff, who I was assisting gave me a box with about sixty plates, which were already overdue for some 10 years. This box was inherited from his father, Ben Somoroff, one of the great photographers of the time. Michael told me that this type of film had a differential for having a large amount of silver.

In 2003 I decided to shoot my family using these plates (4×5 sheet ) and noticed the age effect on them, since they were stuck together.

I repeated the series of my family in 2009.

I think the images provide some temporal relationship to photography. The physical wear on the plates that were glued to each other for all these years, the organic process of time acting on film.

The purpose of this series of pictures is to create a family album.

The album of my family perpetuated in time while the process time is perpetuated in the album and on photography.
